Fresh eggs applique project
There’s nothing like a nice boiled egg (with soldiers of course!) for breakfast – especially now that spring is here and hens are beginning to lay again. This picture’s guaranteed to brighten up your kitchen this Easter (and beyond) combining easy machine applique with touches of hand embroidery.
Make your own with this free download from Craftsy. If you’ve not tried it before, time to try thread sketching with your sewing machine. Use a dark thread to give outline and dimension to your applique shapes. It doesn’t have to be perfect and often looks best if it isn’t!
Picture shown mounted on an A4 canvas block (about 11” x 8 ½”)
The most difficult part of this project might be finding exactly the right color of fabric for the eggshells. Naturally we’ve done the hunting and research for you and found the perfect one. Check out Kona Cotton Solids in Eggshell here from the Fat Quarter Shop, or also available here at Fabric.com, or even here on Amazon.
