Make a DIY Toy Lamp

Recycle old toys into a funky lamp base with some glue and spray paint. Talking point!

If your house is anything like ours, there are a lot of old toys just knocking around in boxes and plastic crates. Maybe the kids have outgrown them, or they’re a bit bashed about and broken. If things aren’t in good condition you can’t really give them for thrift stores and charity shops and with how much they cost, just throwing them away is a waste. So let’s recycle them into something very funky.

This stacked toys lamp base would be fun for the kids rooms, but why stop there. It would also be a fun feature and talking point in the living room too. This is the sort of thing you can make and use for years – then nostalgia will kick in for those old favorites and you will love it forever! See if you can remember all the characters names in 10 years from now.

You’ll need:

  • Lamp with a small- or medium-sized base
  • Shade
  • Hot glue gun
  • Plastic toys (40-50 is best)
  • Spray paint (optional)
