How to turn an old suitcase into a portable dolls house.

Suitcase Dollhouse

Suitcase Dollhouse Transform Your Old Suitcase. I’m pretty sure that the toy I played with the most when I was a little girl was my dolls house. It was only small, my father made it himself out of an old wooden packing crate, but I loved that thing.

I liked to move the furniture about, keep things tidy, make little curtains and rugs and pictures to decorate, and of course, it’s perfect for lots of quiet imaginary play.

If you know a little girl or boy that doesn’t have a dolls house, then here’s an idea for a small project that not only can be packed away neatly, but is also portable.

It needn’t cost a lot to make, you may find an old case in granny’s attic, but it will give hours of fun.

You will need:

  • An old hard shell suitcase
  • 2-3 wood pieces cut to size (width x depth of case)
  • Screws and screwdriver
  • Blackboard Paint and paintbrush (or paint finish of your choice)
  • Chalk
  • Decorative Paper, and felt (optional)
  • Dollhouse Furniture

Did you know that you can actually buy specially made wallpaper for dolls houses? Made in tiny scale, if your case doesn’t have the nicest interior or it’s looking a bit grubby, then buy a pack of the dolls house wallpaper to really brighten it up. Better than using something where the scale is all wrong!
